Symbolic Flight let's you Flight Plan and Pre-Fly with Google Earth and Symbolic Flight Data. You have the ability to pick waypoints and a departure time and see the route drawn over the terrain. Forecast weather is gathered automatically from NOAA, along with, forecast winds aloft for your chosen cruise altitude and a complete plan is generated. Change your altitude, time of departure or routing and see how that affects the plan. You can then click on the PreFly in Google Earth and it will actually fly you along your route at the flight plan altitude, with the terrain lit properly for your ETA. You can pause and look around, change your plan based on what you see, or never touch the mouse.

What you see is what you will see out the window, only augmented and enhanced graphically with landmarks, roads and runways, things that are hard to see until it's too late, such as obstacles, weather, and other airplanes, as well as things you can't see at all, such as regulated airspace. Watch the video and you'll get an idea of what we mean, though we've added many features that make it still simpler to just type in waypoints.[PC-only at present]. And now we've added Sectional and Terminal Area Charts for the entire US.
